Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Suzuki Method uses the Mother-Tongue approach to learning an instrument. When children learn to understand and speak their native language, they do so by listening and positive reinforcement, while only learning to read and write after they are comfortable speaking. You can read more about how the method works here

  • Private lessons are once a week during the school year. Lessons are more flexible in the summer. Lessons are 30, 45 or 60 minutes depending on the age and level of the student.

  • Our group classes are opportunities for students to grow in ensemble skills and make friends. They are essential in developing musicianship skills and musical community. We have found that group classes increase students’ desire to learn the instrument and motivate them to practice more. Our group classes meet bi-weekly during the school year.

  • PLEASE talk to your instructor before renting/purchasing an instrument. You DO NOT NEED an instrument for the first lesson!
